The High Commissioner

The High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to the Commonwealth of Australia, Ms. Doris Brese, is a Career diplomat with almost thirty years of experience in Ghana’s diplomatic service.
High Commissioner Brese first joined Ghana’s diplomatic service in 1997 and rose through the ranks from Assistant Director to Director in 2013. She has served in many Bureaux of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Information, Culture and Linguistics, Administration, Estates and General Services, International Organisations & Conferences, and Europe. High Commissioner Brese has also served in Ghana’s Missions in Ottawa, Belgrade, The Hague, and Seoul.
In 2023, she was appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, and Macedonia.
Ms. Brese currently serves as Ghana’s High Commissioner to the Commonwealth of Australia. She was appointed on 19th November 2025 by the President of the Republic of Ghana, HE. John Dramani Mahama presented her Letters of Credence to the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, on 10th December 2025.
